Flexible Spending Accounts
How it Works
Anything you can do to reduce your taxable income helps to lower the taxes you pay at the end of the year. You can do just that by taking advantage of the Enable Midstream Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Plans. These plans are available through Discovery Benefits.
Enable Midstream offers two types of flexible spending accounts: a Health Care FSA and a Dependent Care FSA. You can enroll in these accounts even if you don’t elect any other Enable Midstream benefits. You can contribute tax-free dollars to your FSA, up to $2,750 for the Health Care FSA and up to $5,000 for the Dependent Care FSA (limits may change at any time, see irs.gov for more information). Use the Health Care FSA to pay for medical, dental and vision care for yourself, spouse and dependent children. The Dependent Care FSA is used to pay for daycare expenses for your dependents such as daycare for children up to age 13 or care for dependent adults who are mentally or physically incapable of caring for themselves. Before enrolling, employees should research what expenses are eligible for reimbursement through a healthcare or dependent care FSA on the IRS website or on the Discovery Benefits site.
Discovery Benefits Log-in Instructions:
- After enrolling in an FSA, you’ll receive an email once your account has been created.
- Follow the instructions in the email or go directly to discoverybenefits.com Click the Login button and select HSA, FSA, HRA & Commuter Login and follow the instructions.
- If you need assistance call the Discovery Benefits’ customer service line at 866-451-3399.
When you enroll, you'll select how much money you'd like to set aside in your Flexible Spending Account. Enable Midstream applies a payroll deduction for that amount based on the number of paychecks in the year (or remaining in the year if you are enrolling as a new hire). You cannot change your contribution after enrollment.
Accessing Your FSA
Debit Card
Discovery Benefits makes it easy to access your flexible spending account. You will receive a debit card you can use for eligible services and products. Payments are automatically withdrawn from your reimbursement account, so there are no out-of-pocket costs. See the Discovery Benefits website for more information.
Filing Claims
If you pay for an eligible cost out of your pocket, there are several ways you can file a claim and provide any required documentation to request reimbursement.
How to File a Claim
- Online: www.discoverybenefits.com (https://www.discoverybenefits.com)
- Via Mobile App: Discovery Benefits Mobile App (for iPhone™ and Android™)
- By Fax: Fax Reiumbursement Request form (available on the website) to 866-451-3245
- By Mail: Send Reimbursement Request form to:
Discovery Benefits
3216 13th Avenue South
Fargo, ND 58013
Discovery Benefits will process your claim and send you a reimbursement check. If you set up direct deposit with them, they can deposit the funds directly into your bank account.
Plan Carefully
Whenever you participate in a FSA, plan carefully. You have until March 15 of the next calendar year to incur eligible expenses, and 16 additional days (until March 31) to claim your FSA dollars. If you don't use all the money in your FSA each year, you lose it. You may also be asked to show proof that your dollars were used for eligible expenses, so make sure to keep your receipts.
If you are concerned about losing funds you don't use, you may want to consider the High Deductible Healthcare Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) instead. The HSA balance rolls forward every year and can be used to pay for more than medical expenses. You can enroll in either the Health Care FSA or the HDHP + HSA, but not both. If you choose to waive medical coverage from Enable Midstream, you may still enroll in the Health Care FSA, the Dependent Care FSA, or both.
